Erika + Jason met during her freshman orientation at CCSU. Erika went to hang out with a friend from high school (the only person she knew on campus) and Jason was there too! They hit it off and Jason ended up walking her home. He turned around after she went in, knocked on the door and asked if she wanted to keep hanging out and watch a movie. They were inseparable after that night. They went to the Mystic Aquarium on an “adventure” for their first date. They prefer going on adventures rather than cliche dinner/movie dates. They enjoyed getting know each other on long car rides.
Erika almost blew the whole plan for the proposal! They were in Downtown Disney with close friends and Erika’s sister. Jason was persistent to find a caricature artist and Erika kept asking “why do you want a caricature so bad?” (she didn’t want to see what she looked like as a cartoon). Jason finally found an artist and told them to draw him proposing. When Erika looked at the drawing, she turned and looked at Jason confused. He was on one knee… Erika kept saying “wait… are you serious!?” He had planned to propose toward the end of the trip, but ended up asking on the first night!
The pine trees outside Pavilion on Crystal Lake reminded them of Colorado where Jason grew up and where they went on their first vacation. The reception hall reminded them of a ski lodge. When they walked in, they knew it was the perfect spot for their wedding. They wanted something casual and set back away from the public. Pavilion on Crystal Lake was the first and only venue they visited!
