Our final year of college Kevin moved into an apartment with my swim team mates. Before the year began I went to a football game with those team mates and he came along. The group of us ended up hanging out the entire night and it became clear that Kevin and I were interested in each other.
I’m not sure we really had a first date. We continued to meet up with the same group through the week that we were hanging around with the day we met. We became boyfriend and girlfriend within seven days of meeting.
What was the proposal like?
Kevin set up a birthday scavenger hunt for my 27th birthday. He made up an excuse to leave and it began with a clue hidden in his apartment. I drove to four locations and at each one he gave me a present, a card explaining why that location was a special part of our relationship, and a clue to get me to the next. He had friends helping him to give me gifts at each place. The fifth location was where he proposed. It was a pretty park where I ran and we would go for walks together. He had a friend hiding to capture the moment.
I saw photos of a friend’s wedding there and knew it was perfect for us. The style of the wedding, starting with the venue, suits us as a couple.
Any other fun info you’d like to share?
1) Kevin asked Rebecca to be his girlfriend for the first time on August 31, 2012. Exactly seven years later on August 31, 2019 she becomes his wife. August marks all of their milestones. Rebecca’s birthday August 21, Kevin’s birthday August 24, they met August 25, got engaged August 19, and moved in together August 11. 2) Rebecca and Kevin’s first dance will be a song sung by Rebecca. The father-daughter dance will be a song sung by her dad. 3) All graphics and designs for the wedding were made by the bride from invitations to koozies, save the dates to signs.
AND Rebecca wore her mother’s wedding dress!!!
