Heather + Zach met on a blind date. They had both just moved to Newport and didn’t really know the area very well. They walked to town together and everything felt new and fun. It was early fall so still a nice time to enjoy Newport outside (without all the tourists). After dinner, they were walking home and Zach leaned in to give her a kiss, but slipped and cut his finger very badly on a fence. He wanted to go to the hospital but Heather convinced him she would take care of him with the first aid kit at her apartment. He listened and she’s been taking care of him ever since! Zach planned to propose at a lighthouse overlooking the harbor. Come to find out, it was very slippery and not an easy place to get to in December, plus freezing cold! Heather started to figure out  what was going on and they watched the sunset on the cliffs instead. Zach proposed there with a ring box he had made out of teak and custom designed her ring. Heather loves that it’s the only one like it!

The Regatta Place at Goat Island Marina checked off all their must-haves for a venue. It’s right on the water and overlooks Newport, without being at the center of the hustle/bustle of downtown. They love the ocean (Zach sails and works in boat design) and the Regatta Place allowed them to see the beautiful harbor, while having a more relaxed atmosphere. The groomsmen even arrived to the ceremony by boat! Their 18 month old son Oliver was very animated and active. He was a bit shy at first but ran up to join his parents during the ceremony for the ring exchange. Margit and I had an amazing time with their friends and family!
